City of Pune Honors Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi

Pune, April 7th, 2008 – ‘The felicitation of Shri Mataji and Sir CP Shrivastava is one of those given to enlightened and austere persons’, says Mayor Rajlaxmi Bhonsle on Monday. She provided a letter of felicitation to the respected couple.

‘The felicitation of Shri Mataji and Sir CP Shrivastava is one of those given to enlightened and austere persons’, says Mayor Rajlaxmi Bhonsle on Monday. She provided a letter of felicitation to the respected couple.

Shri Mataji has worked to create a milieu based on higher values. Her husband has served the country selflessly. To commemorate these achievements, the mayor presented them with the felicitation.

Shivashahir Babasaheb Purandare was the chief guest. Assistant Mayor Bhokatey, Members of House of Representatives Anil Bhonsle, Standing Committee Chief Shyam Deshpande, leader of opposition Vikas Matkari were present. Also present were Abhay Chajed, Avinash Salve, Shrikant Patil, Dilip Baratey, Nilesh Nikam, Ravindra Ghangekar etc. Vinita Apte was the Master of Ceremonies. Vikas Mathkari gave the vote of thanks. The Mayor described the work of Shri Mataji and Sir CP and read the letter of felicitation out loud.

In his speech, Purandare, the chief guest spoke about Shri Mataji’s work. Shri Mataji is spreading essential values and traditions all over the world. Her personality is magnanimous and many have found refuge and solutions to life’s hardest questions. Education alone is not enough to live a life of contentment, dharma and benevolence. Repitive chanting of mantras is insufficient too. It needs someone like Shri Mataji to inculcate and inspire these principles within. Beyond these, Shri Mataji blesses one with keeping one’s wisdom and dharmic way awakened.”

The Mayor went on to add further, that through Sahaja Yoga, Shri Mataji has transformed thousands of people all over the world. She has forged amicable relationships amongst all people of the world. Followers of Shri Mataji were present at ceremony in large numbers.
